Y10 Geography Field Trip
For preparation for their GCSE exam, Year 10 geographers undertook fieldwork at both Herne Bay and Reculver. This was a fantastic opportunity to be able to put their learning over the past term into practice.
The y students visited two contrasting beaches at Reculver, which is managed with sea defences; and Bishopstone, which has no sea defences. Whilst there, they practised a number of fieldwork techniques. Students were able to see the impact of coastal erosion on the landscape and examine the ways that humans had tried to manage this.
They then visited Herne Bay, where they interviewed local people, completed environmental quality surveys and land use surveys.
Despite the heat, the geographers were incredibly mature and were the best versions of themselves. One group made us especially proud to be Towers when they helped an elderly lady get to her doctor's appointment. We are very proud of all of our Year 10 geographers. Well done from the geography department!
