This term we had Year 10 students go out to work experience for the week commencing 27th June and our Year 12s for the week of 11th July. Each student was able to pick what they would like to do and where they wished to go. We have had some students go to interesting work places including The Houses of Parliament kitchens, Kent Police at the Port of Dover, Jaguar Land Rover, Wide Eyes Falconry and even an engineering company in Italy.
The take up for this opportunity was great, with the majority of both year groups participating, and we have also received some great feedback from the businesses including:
"Harry was a delightful young man, so enthusiastic and had a willingness to learn, a credit to the school. The whole team were very impressed with him and we wish him well for the future" - Harry Wood, Houses of Parliament.
"Quick message to say both girls have arrived and are now out in the community walking lots of dogs with the team. I’ve put them in charge of capturing the pictures and creating the social media posts for the day. Their very much older mentors are very pleased with this! I'm impressed that both arrived promptly and smartly and appropriately dressed for the day - a great start to their week" - Shakira Hanson and Tyler Calland, Nanny McPets.
"Alvina was fantastic. I wish we could keep her!" - Alvina Gurung, Ashford St. Mary's Primary School
Some students who didn't go on work experience have expressed regret that they didn't after hearing about the great time some of their friends had. Let's hope our Year 10 and Year 12 students next year make the most of this great opportunity.
